“This piece's composition of an emaciated horse walking over a fallen tree trunk is made with oil paint on a canvas. As one of the artist's more recent pieces, there is more thought put into the concept of the piece. The blue of the horse and the tree contrasted with the red of the background can represent a variety of emotions and conditions, from mental exhaustion and hopelessness to frustration and hatred. The key theme is just that the way the emotion is experienced is paradoxical, as shown through the contrasting colors. For example, hatred can be a sharp, reactionary emotion, but it can also be festered and grown slowly throughout the years. How the viewer interprets the emotion of the piece is up to them.”
